Through his exhaustive study into well-established western musicals in Europe and the United States, Professor Li Dun has produced numerous hit musicals including Legend of the White Snake, Oriental Beauty – Xi Shi, Butterflies and Love You, Teresa.
Dubbed by the media as the Godfather of Chinese musicals, Professor Li is known for staging large-scale, original Chinese musicals, in collaboration with an international team. In recognition of his efforts, Professor Li has won countless international awards including the 2004 Chinese Art and Culture Excellence Artist Award by the United States World Artists Association, and the 2016 Outstanding Contribution Prize at the 10th Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF). At home, he won the Chinese Cultural and Creative Industry Leading Role Award in 2011 and the Excellent Production Award and Most Focused Award at the 3rd China Dongguan Musical Festival.
