Old Ties Rekindled At CNY Lunch For EMP Alumni

The festive mood was still in the air as Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) Executive Management Programme (EMP) alumni, together with their instructors, welcomed Chinese New Year on the eighth day of the new year. Nearly 50 people, including SUSS President Prof Cheong Hee Kiat and Provost Prof Tsui Kai Chong, participated in the lunch, which was co-hosted with Mr Mark Poh, Chairman of the EMP alumni, and Managing Director of Nam Leong Pte Ltd, at his company's premises on 23 Feb 2018.

It was indeed gracious of Mr Poh to lead the guests on an insightful tour of his huge premises prior to the lunch. This was followed by the highlight of any CNY lunch – the traditional lou hei ritual, accompanied by jubilant expressions of auspicious phrases to welcome good luck, good health and success in the new year. Lively conversations interspersed with cheerful laughter filled the entire atmosphere of the event. It also set the mood for rekindling of friendships for those who had journeyed through the EMP together, and networking with alumni from different cohorts.

The event concluded with an energetic lion dance performance which generated a lot of excitement. It was indeed an unforgettable CNY lunch, bolstered by wonderful company and enjoyable food. Gong Xi Fa Cai!
