CEX Waiver may be given for selected undergraduate programmes in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, S R Nathan School of Human Development, and School of Science and Technology at point of admission. It is not applicable to undergraduate programmes in the School of Business and School of Law.
You will receive a waiver for CEX course(s) for your applied programme of study if you have:
A relevant local polytechnic or NIE diploma; and
Your graduating GPA is 3.5 or above (local Polytechnic diploma), or 4.375 or above (NIE diploma).
The waived CEX course(s) will be granted credit recognition, subject to a maximum limit of 20 credit units.
There is no appeal for waiver for CEX courses if you do not meet the criteria.
Credit Recognition for CEX
A passed CEX course will be granted credit recognition (CN) on condition that the course is: (1) relevant to your programme of study and (2) subject to a maximum limit of 60 credit units. You cannot re-use a CEX course which you have been granted CN for a degree completed earlier.
Passed CEX courses which are awarded CN will be reflected in your academic transcript and academic profile in the Student Portal as CN. Failed and absence from CEX will not be shown in your academic transcript but will be reflected in your academic profile as 'CEX Courses Taken'.
