People's Association

The People’s Association (PA) was established as a statutory board on 1 July 1960 to promote racial harmony and social cohesion in Singapore. Through its wide range of programmes and services, it aims to build and bridge communities to achieve One People, One Singapore.

On 18 February 2012, SUSS signed an MOU with the PA, and launched its new Master of Community Leadership and Social Development programme. SUSS will partner PA to run this multi-disciplinary programme that focuses on the practical knowledge and skills required for sound leadership and an in-depth understanding of social development in Singapore. On 19 March 2013, the partnership between SUSS and PA was strengthened with the launch of the SUSS-PA Sponsorship Programme. Under this agreement, SUSS will sponsor up to 80% of the total course fees of any SUSS undergraduate programmes for five grassroots leaders and PA staff members every calendar year.

On 28 September 2017, SUSS’s School of Law signed a MOU with the Office of the Mayors (on behalf of PA), together with Law Society Pro Bono Services (LSPBS), NUS Centre for Pro Bono & Clinical Legal Education, and SMU pro Bono Centre; for continuity of engagement in promoting and supporting law students’ involvement in Law Awareness Weeks and Community Legal Clinics.
