Applicants should be Singapore citizens, permanent residents or residents in Singapore. In addition, you will need to meet these minimum requirements:
- An undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
- Good communication skills (written and spoken English)
- At least two years of work experience in related field
- 21 years and above
- Degree holders with sport, physical education or outdoor education or related degree
- Degree holders without sport, physical or outdoor education or related degree but have an OBS Instructor Certificate and recommendation letter from the Executive Director of OBS
- Compulsory submission of their health memo and, if necessary, supplementary forms
Applicants who do not have any of the above-mentioned requirements are to complete the Pre-Requisite in Outdoor Education (PROED) programme (minimum CGPA of 2.0) to prepare them for the GDOED.
Applicants must complete and submit an online application to Singapore University of Social Sciences by the specified deadline.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo one or more interviews and/or take such written admission or other evaluation tests as may be prescribed by Singapore University of Social Sciences.
The offer of admission is dependent on the number of places available in individual programmes.
The decision of the Admissions Committee of Singapore University of Social Sciences is final and binding. Singapore University of Social Sciences reserves the right to refuse admission and is not obliged to offer an explanation for the non-admission of unsuccessful candidates.
The Graduate Diploma in Outdoor Education (GDOED) provides students with different pathways for admission to the programme, and allows for an alternative exit point through the Graduate Certificate in Outdoor Education. Students who do not have a sport, physical education or outdoor education or related degree are required to complete the four pre-requisite courses to prepare them for the GDOED programme.
To graduate with the Graduate Certificate in Outdoor Education, students must successfully complete the three core courses in Stage 1 with a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
To graduate with the Graduate Diploma in Outdoor Education, students must successfully complete six core courses with a minimum CGPA of 2.5.

Designed for experienced outdoor educators who wish to enhance and acquire advanced knowledge and skills to be effective leaders in the field of outdoor education or to extend their professional development. Pre-requisite courses are also available for individuals who are interested in outdoor education but do not have the necessary background and knowledge.
Graduates of the GDOED programme are equipped with sound theoretical bases, ability to design and execute outdoor education programmes, while at the same time, manage risk and legal liabilities. These provide pathways for graduates to take on more challenging and critical roles such as leadership positions and conducting research to influence the future developments and advancement of the field.
