Language Placement Tests

If you have prior background in Chinese or Malay (at least a Pass at O Levels), take the respective placement test to determine the level of Business Chinese or Business Malay that is suitable for your level of language competency.

Do note that placement test taken this semester will determine which Business course level you're suitable for in the following semester.

The Chinese Placement Test consists of 2 assessment components:

  • Written component of a short paragraph of 150-200 characters, online submission
  • Oral component (15 minutes per student), booking of timeslot with assessor required

You are only allowed to book a timeslot for the Oral assessment after you have submitted the written component online. Announcements and submissions will be made via Canvas. Registered students will be enrolled in the course site prior to the commencement of the Placement Test.

Kindly note that the final grade for the Placement Test will not be released to individuals. You will receive an email to notify you that you have passed the test after the grading is completed, and the recommended level of Business Course will appear in your eCR list for the following semester.

If you are offered the course but decide not to take it immediately in the next semester, you can always register for it in the following semesters. In this case, do ensure that you have set aside sufficient credit units, i.e. 5 CUs, for one Business language course.

The registration for the Chinese Placement Test has ended.
