Independent Study in English (ELL388)

ELL388 Independent Study in English offers students the opportunity to extend their knowledge about a specific topic in English Language or Literature by delving further in the area through independent research. Each student will work on a chosen academic endeavour alongside the guidance of an academic supervisor. Students will learn to conceptualise, analyse, conduct autonomous research, and to adopt the appropriate research methods and modes of communication in their chosen area of study. There is scope for the academic endeavour to take various forms, including applied research, archival analysis, or a related internship stint, as long as it is deemed relevant to the intended learning objectives. This course will develop students’ skills in resource and time management, as well as refine advanced competencies in communication and problem solving.
