Creative Printmaking (BAE223)

Synopsis

This course is for those students with Art background. It introduces the students to basic screen printing techniques and processes in Printmaking. Students are taught the basic techniques and aesthetics in printmaking with an emphasis on workshop practice. Opportunity will be provided to explore and experiment with basic screen printing techniques and processes through a series of lectures, demonstrations and studio practises. Class critiques and discussions will be conducted after every class exercise to help clarify, develop and expand on the skill and knowledge acquired. Selected work will be put up for exhibition.

Learning Outcome

  • Discuss the purposes of printmaking and what it involves.
  • Describe the techniques, processes and the development of individual imagery.
  • Examine the various aspects of quality control.
  • Apply basic printmaking processes and techniques in a resolved print.
  • Demonstrate proper use, preparation of, and care for the equipment and facilities.
  • Create a print using printmaking techniques to express artistic intentions.
