Synopsis

BSE533 Leadership in Outdoor Education provides students with the understanding of outdoor leadership as a profession. The topics covered examine leadership theories and practices in relation to the development of significant persons in the outdoor industry. Principles of leadership style, values and ethics in outdoor leadership, and processes of decision-making, are discussed. Overall, the treatment of the materials will enable students to build on and integrate prior knowledge in this discipline of Outdoor Education and provide a more sophisticated view of the content to foster higher order cognitive processes according to Bloom’s taxonomy.
