Synopsis

This course looks at how to design a distribution network and presents a variety of distribution network models together with an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each. The design of distribution networks is discussed in the context of e-business. The role of transport in a supply chain as well as the strengths and weaknesses of different options for designing transport networks is discussed. The trade-offs among transport cost, inventory cost and responsiveness that must be considered when designing a supply chain is covered.
