Development is a complex combination of continuous and stable processes with changes at each stage of development. ECC201 Child Growth and Development (0 – 8 years) provides an overview of children’s development from 0 - 8 years old. It will examine stages and theories of the development of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and early primary children. Contributions of biological maturation and the environment, in relation to children’s physical, cognitive, emotional and social development, will be covered and analysed in relation to their growth and learning. Influencing factors of culture and society, and their implications, as well as current trends and research, will be discussed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of children’s development.
