Synopsis

ECC209 Aesthetics and the Arts for Children will explore the relationship between artisticactivities and the cultivation of children's creativity. Based on children's visual arts developmentand music teaching theories, this course will introduce various activities and teaching methods forpreschool children's visual arts and music learning. Students will explore the elements of visualarts, music and movement, and learn to extend their use to develop children's aesthetic facultiesand creative thinking. Students will also investigate the important aspects of establishingconducive visual arts and music learning environments for nurturing children's creativity. Inaddition, they will learn how to analyse and evaluate preschool visual arts and music teachingactivities so as to be able to design and plan effective learning activities that promote children'sartistic development.
