Synopsis

Workplace learning is known to be one of the most effective ways for acquiring professional ethos and skills. ECE521 Mentoring and Coaching in Educational Settings prepares students for the important role of effective mentor and coach through examination of theories on mentoring and coaching, development of skills to nurture mentoring and coaching relationships, building a repertoire to facilitate professional development of early childhood teachers focusing on the observed strengths of teachers. ECE521 is highly interactive, with practice-based exercises. Among the skills that the class will examine those associated with communication, reflection, conflict resolution, building of organisation culture, establishing accountability and conditions for high performance.
