Course participants who select to complete a master’s thesis to fulfill the requirements of the MECED will build on their research skills employed to explore linkages between research, theory and practice. The thesis is intended to provide course participants with advanced research experience and the opportunity to use current knowledge and skills to contribute to early childhood practice. Course participants can engage in action-oriented or policy-oriented research for educational change in practices or policies or advocacy issues. Topics of study may encompass issues such as: children’s exposure to social media or technology, the practice of inclusive education in early childhood, effective bilingual education of children, practices and policies that affect attrition rate of early childhood educators, and other appropriate areas. In this course, in-depth research is conducted based on an approved proposal with implementation, analysis and a comprehensive report of 10,000 word requirement.
