Students will be introduced to formal syntax within the contemporary linguistic framework of Generative Grammar. It addresses and discusses a wide variety of syntactic phenomena in English and other languages that have fascinated syntacticians from the 1950s to the present with an eye to developing a comprehensive understanding of central issues in a contemporary syntactic theory.
