Synopsis

IPM577 Assessing Technology examines how modern technology is driving intellectual property (IP), business and R&D strategies in organisations today through its ability to disrupt the global economy and create new value. The course considers the analysis of the patentability of inventions, identification of issues during prosecution and determination of follow-up actions to achieve cost efficiency. Students will also learn to identify the commercial objectives and benefits of invention disclosures, evaluate key considerations and determine the steps needed to achieve an effective IP strategy.
