Applied Research Project (IPM688)

IPM688 Applied Research Project exposes students to real-world issues in intellectual property (IP) management and allows them to develop hands-on skills in original research, critical analysis and the application of IP law, IP management or IP technology in practice.

• A range of topics may be selected that relate to real-world IP management or IP technology issues.

• Assess and demonstrate applied knowledge and skills in intellectual property (IP) law, IP management, IP technology or IP business
• Formulate original thinking in applying the knowledge and skills in IP law, IP management, IP technology or IP business
• Use research and problem-solving skills in the area of IP law, IP management, IP technology or IP business
• Plan and implement a substantial applied project in IP management, IP technology or IP business including the production of a final report
• Select applicable techniques in research to evaluate methodologies, critically analyse and propose workable solutions
• Solve problems and handle complex data and information
• Use IT, academic and professional literature, and other sources of information, including search engines and electronic lega, business, technology, economic and financial databases
• Employ independent and relevant analytical skills in project planning and execution at a professional level
• Demonstrate skills in project management, teamwork, oral, written and visual communication to specialist and non-specialist audience.
