Synopsis

The course is an introduction to the pedagogical approaches to language acquisition; how human beings gain information of the world and how such information is stored, processed and used. A modern view of how human beings acquire knowledge and how this knowledge is used to direct behaviour, intelligence, problem-solving and decision-making, thinking and thinking skills, implications for learning and teaching in the classroom. In this module, students will be exposed to the application of cognitive psychology in teaching and learning and the various learning theories put forward by behaviourist to explain how behaviour is acquired using principles of conditioning. Ways of motivating various types of pupils in the learning process.

E-Learning: BLENDED - Learning is done MAINLY online using interactive study materials in Canvas. Students receive guidance and support from online instructors via discussion forums and emails. This is supplemented with SOME face-to-face sessions. If the course has an exam component, this will be administered on-campus.
