Synopsis

This course trains students in best practices in language research. They will explore a wide range of current topics in Malay language research and learn how to craft a research proposal and avoid pitfalls in conducting research in theoretical and applied linguistics. A research proposal will be the final outcome of the course. Both quantitative and qualitative research will be examined in the course. Students are expected to be adept at both approaches to language research and be able to extrapolate their findings to the workplace, bearing in mind ethics and Malay cultural sensitivity.
