Introduction to Tamil Literary Criticism (TLL104)

Synopsis

Since the Sangam Period, poets have debated and critiqued literature from a variety of angles and perspectives: moral stance, form, gender roles and power relations. This course examines, evaluates and interprets Tamil literature. It provides the basics of literary theory from which to appreciate and criticize the literary works of poets and writers. It equips students with the information and literary tools by which to approach and critique Tamil classical, medieval and contemporary literary writings.
