Early Childhood Aquatic Teaching Practice requires participants to be attached to an early childhood aquatic teacher for a minimum of 60 hours. This should be completed within a period of 5 months or less via weekly attachments in a teaching practice at an approved and recognised early childhood aquatic school. These attachments will facilitate participants’ acquisition of the necessary communication skills and confidence in applying teaching techniques for specific activities. Participants will be required to assist swim teachers in managing groups of parent-child dyads during swim classes as well as plan and conduct learning experiences to match the needs of specific groups of children. Participants will write reflections to evaluate their own competencies in various aspects of swim teaching as well as begin to have conversations with families to provide feedback on their children’s progress.
