President's Welcome Message

Director's Welcome Message

Welcome to SUSS.

Congratulations on securing a place with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)!

It's great that you have made your move to SUSS (to be read as S-U-S-S instead of "suss") to pursue your higher education. As an SUSS freshman, Orientation is an important rite-of-passage to university life. It is often where you meet new friends and forge lifetime friendships.

You are joining the university at a time where the world is battling the COVID-19 pandemic. It has put many activities on hold and affected each and every one of us in previously unimaginable ways. These disruptions are traumatic and far-reaching. It will definitely bring us to a new normal in many aspects of life and living after we conquer this war. We will come out stronger, together.

Despite the difficulties, life needs to be lived and people need to find some normalcy to carry on. Hence for this January 2021 orientation, we will welcome and orientate our freshmen online as the number of participants allowed for physical events is still relatively small. However, you will still get to meet your Dean who will be addressing all freshmen online to share the School's vision, the support available and expectations of students. Your Head of Programme (HoP) will share the study roadmap for your programme and cover some important pointers for a smoother learning journey. There will also be briefings and demo-sessions on how to navigate important applications and portals that impact your learning, for example the online learning management system, Canvas - for discussions and assignments submission and Student Portal - for access to student information and access to the digital Library's e-resources.

Coming on board to welcome you will be our team of student volunteers, seniors who will be available to chat with you and answer queries that you may have about your studies and student life at SUSS. Although we are unable to welcome you in person for now, take this time to settle into learning online as e-learning is an important component of your study at SUSS.

When the COVID-19 situation improves and we are able to interact in person, there will be more events and activities for students to reinforce the online friendships formed.

We all look forward to welcoming you to SUSS. Let SUSS help you make your mark on progress, right from the start of your learning journey.

Warmest regards,
Evelyn Chong
