SUSS - SZU Impact Startup Challenge

Total Cost: $1,500 - $1,800

  • (Inclusive of airfare, accommodation, transport and some meals, excluding 5 cu course fees or Registration Fee)
  • YTP subsidy of $900 or PSEA reimbursement available (based on individual’s eligibility/account balance)

For 5 cu credit bearing:

  • SUSS full-time students will receive a course subsidy of $800 in the following semester. For students in their final semester, prevailing course fees apply.
  • SUSS part-time students, prevailing course fees apply.

For non-credit bearing option:

  • SUSS students pay a registration fee of $180 per person.
  • Pre-tertiary and non-SUSS students pay a registration fee of $180 per person.

Programme Schedule

Pre-trip Session: 9 July 2019, 7pm - 10pm

Travel dates: 17 July 2019 – 23 July 2019 (7 days)

- Meet foreign participants + icebreaking

- Startup founder sharing on “How to Build A Business in China”

- 1-min pitch + Team formation

- Intro to Javelin Board

Day 2

- Problem Hypothesis Round 1 & Prepare for interview

- GOOB 1 (Get-Out-Of-Building)

- Site visit 1 (VC/Incubator/Startup Offices)

- How to prepare a pitch deck

- Problem Hypothesis Round 2

*Learning from the experiment

Day 3

- Problem MVP + value proposition canvas

- Site visit 2 or Community Event

- GOOB 2 & 3

Day 4

- Solution MVP + testing

- GOOB 4

- Review learnings

Day 5

- Pitch deck preparation

- Pitch rehearsal

Day 6

- Final pitch to judges (*VCs, Angel Investors, Startup Mentors)

- R&R if time allows

Day 7

- Visit MassLab Conference (TBC)

Admission Eligibility Criteria

  • FTMKTG (full-time Marketing) and BSBM (part-time Marketing) students may take this 5 cu course as a major elective. The course is graded and will affect your CGPA
  • Full-time students may take this 5 cu course as a SUSS Core Unrestricted elective, under GSP100. The course is graded and will affect your CGPA.
  • Part-time students may take this 5 cu course as a general elective, under GSP100. The course is graded and will affect your CGPA.
  • Optionally SUSS students may take this course as a non-credit bearing course and register via SIMS events portal. The course is not graded and will not affect your CGPA.
  • Pre-tertiary and non-SUSS students may take this course as a non-credit bearing course and register via SIMS events portal.
  • CDO303PNH can be used to fulfill overseas experience (OE) requirement.

Register during eCR in April 2019 (5 cu credit bearing) and Register your interest here latest by 28 April 2019 (both credit bearing and non-credit bearing)
