Event Highlights

On 13 August evening, our volunteers consisting of a current student and 2 alumnus, helped some new students who needed coaching on SUSS online platforms.

There were 6 students who attended and they were from varied programmes such as Human Factors, Social Work, Communication studies, and even Gerontology. Via Zoom platform, the eager newbies were coached on accessing the different fields within student portal. These included on how they could register for events and where to access important information such as electronic course evaluation (eCE) and electronic course registration (eCR) which would be the first time most would have to access since they were new students. The volunteer also did a run through for Canvas and a few had questions on accessing the files there.

There were plenty of opportunities for the students to ask questions since it’s a small group and the volunteers were methodical and answered all queries as best they knew how. The student support staff who were present also told the newbies that they could still call or email the student support hotline should they have any other administrative enquiries after the session.

Most of the participants were grateful and satisfied with this student led initiative.
