The SUSS School of Law presents four papers at its second Family Law seminar. The four speakers present the rules and statutory provisions in context and provide an update of legal developments and noteworthy judicial decisions. Two commentators provide their views and moderate attendees’ questions of the speakers.
With respect to child issues, Ms Edith Chen discusses WKM v WKN [2024] SGCA 1 of Judge and Child Sessions and Child Welfare Reports. Professor Leong Wai Kum examines the SGCA order curating four phases towards the rehabilitation of the child’s relationships with her feuding parents and the scope for variation of child’s living orders.
With respect to spousal property issues, Mr Michael Ng discusses the power to declare spouses’ entitlement during the subsistence of marriage and traces major developments in the decade since Chan Yuen Lan v See Fong Mun [2014] 3 SLR 1048 was decided. Dr Colin Tan discusses the power to divide matrimonial assets in just and equitable proportions upon dissolution of marriage and traces major developments in the decade since ANJ v ANK [2015] 4 SLR 1043 was decided.
