Students, Alumni
Learners, Parents
SUSS Colleagues;

  1. A very warm welcome to the SUSS Open House. Each year, I look forward to meeting new and familiar faces coming to ‘check out’ SUSS as the right place to further their studies or chart new career paths. Whether you’re fresh from school or polytechnic, already at work, an SUSS student or alumnus, you are sussing out the right place for your studies!
  1. We’ve been in university education, in fact, in lifelong learning, ever since we started 13 years ago. Our students come for degrees – undergraduate and graduate, for continuing education, for casual learning out of interest, at all adult ages, along different pathways, learning what they really want, at individual pace, anywhere, anytime. Lifelong learning is what SUSS offers.
  1. Today, I am pleased that we will do even more - more opportunities for learning, more comprehensively, more holistically, more with our lifelong learners in mind. We are launching a new SUSS initiative that will accelerate SUSS’ leading position as a university of lifelong learning. It will bring us to a next level of developing our students, our graduates, our people continually through their course of life as future thinkers, leaders and contributors to our industry and society.
  1. Coined as ‘SUSS LifE’, it represents a uniquely SUSS brand of education. We believe that “learning enriches life, and life enriches learning”, throughout life. SUSS LifE embodies our open, inclusive admissions approach that offers learning journeys for individuals across a wide range of age, background and stage of life. SUSS LifE will help learners explore learning possibilities, curate their learning, go on to the next step, and make the learning experience as smooth, seamless, inclusive and rewarding, and open diverse opportunities for diverse needs.
  1. SUSS LifE will be led by our new College of Lifelong and Experiential Learning (CLEL), made up of three sub-units:
    • Centre of Continuing and Professional Education
    • Centre of University Core, and
    • Centre of Experiential Learning.
  1. Learners will find a wealth of courses and learning outings drawn from these units and from all our academic Schools. We hope that SUSS LifE will be adopted by many for their lifelong learning journey.
  1. In celebration of today’s launch, I am pleased to announce that our alumni members will be entitled to a special SUSS alumni lifelong learning credit of S$500 when they next enrol for a course with us. Our alumni and prospective alumni who are here today can find out more at our SUSS LifE booth here on how to make use of it. May this small token encourage your continual learning with us today!
  1. On behalf of SUSS, I would like to thank Senior Minister of State, Mr Chee Hong Tat, for joining us today to launch SUSS LifE. We are honoured to have you with us today.
  1. Thank you.
