This year, the mid-autumn festival at SIM University was celebrated with a slight twist from previous years. Besides the usual lantern riddles games, Chinese tea appreciation and moon cake tasting, the celebration was heightened by a captivating 90-minute theatrical performance by a group of 16-member Taiwan International Youth Ambassadors.
Some 450 members, staff, alumni of SIM University as well as their friends gathered at the Performing Arts Theatre on 18 September 2015 to celebrate the festival. Many came with their children, adding much laughter and joyous mood to the event. The audience particularly enjoyed the stage play entitled Energetic New Taiwan put up by the Taiwan International Youth Ambassadors. The performers were selected from 55 universities and colleges in Taiwan. The group put together 12 acts that covered themes ranging from natural environment, cultural heritage, cultural creativity to cuisine. Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President, SIM University presented a souvenir to Mr Sung Wen-cheng, leader of the performing group at the end of the performance.
The night ended with an exciting lantern riddles quiz which saw many participants walking away with attractive prizes sponsored by the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore.
The event was jointly organised by UniSIM Centre for Chinese Studies and Taipei Representative Office in Singapore.
