As part of the dynamic aviation community, SIM University (UniSIM) was represented by the School of Science and Technology (SST) in the biennial Aviation Open House, held from 25 - 27 July 2013 at the MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO. This event, organised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), provided a platform for the aviation community to promote greater awareness of the range and depth of activities in this vibrant sector, as well as excite youths and working adults to pursue a career in industry. At the Open House, SST set up a booth equipped with SIM University Virtual Air Space (SIMVA) simulators to provide visitors with firsthand experience of flying a circuit with real-time air traffic control guidance. Eight UniSIM graduates from the Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Systems (BEHAS) programme supported SST's participation by helping to man the SIMVA simulators throughout the three-day event. Staff members were also on-hand to answer all queries from potential students about UniSIM’s Aerospace degree programmes.Professor Brian Peacock, Professor at SST who was overseeing the SIMVA simulators, said: "It was great having so many youths trying out our SIMVA and understanding the human factors aspect of the aviation community. I think we did a great job playing our part in reaching out to the community."
