Collaboration with National Council of Social Service

On 20 February 2013, Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President of SIM University (UniSIM), and Mr David Alexander Ong, Board Member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between UniSIM and NCSS, with Professor Tsui Kai Chong, Provost of UniSIM; and Ms Ang Bee Lian, Chief Executive Officer of NCSS as signatories.

NCSS is the umbrella body for member Voluntary Welfare Organisations in Singapore, with the mission to provide leadership and direction in social services, to enhance the capabilities of social service organisations and to promote strategic partnerships for social services. The MOU covers UniSIM’s partnership with NCSS in their Professional and Leadership Development Scheme for Social Workers, providing opportunities for their social workers to read selected courses in UniSIM’s Master of Social Work programme under the Continuing Education and Training track. UniSIM also agrees to accept NCSS’s Higher Diploma in Social Service programme as an entry requirement into its Bachelor of Social Work programme.
