SIM University's (UniSIM) School of Science and Technology has partnered with The Society of Project Managers, Singapore (SPM) to launch a new Professional Talk Series entitled "Embracing New Changes Of The Construction Industry". The talks aim to connect professionals, practitioners, academics and students in the construction business and to share knowledge about the industry.The inaugural seminar, held on 22 January 2015, saw Associate Professor Tan Teng Hooi, Head of UniSIM's Bachelor of Building and Project Management programme, giving a talk on "Understanding The Change And Impact Of Eurocodes On The Construction Industry In Singapore", to prepare project managers for the changes in the building code which will take effect in April 2015. Following that, Mr Ng Chin Sin, Project Manager of Tiong Seng Contractors, presented on "Precast Management In Projects" which is one of the key initiatives towards higher productivity in the construction industry. UniSIM President Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, who is an Honorary Fellow of SPM, presented tokens of appreciation to the speakers.Associate Professor Tan, who spearheaded this initiative, said that the response to the inaugural event was very encouraging. The series will continue to have relevant topics and influential speakers as a main draw to make it a success.
