Over 300 School of Business (SBIZ) students and members of the public attended the bi-annual Let's Talk Business@UniSIM seminar, held in conjunction with our Open House, on 20 August 2016. Two established entrepreneurs – Ms Yeo Wan Ling, CEO and Co-founder of Caregiver Asia Pte Ltd, and Mr William Phay, Founder of Success Belt Strategy and Ambidextrous Consultants LLP – were invited to share their experience in entrepreneurship.
Ms Yeo had the audience's full attention with her presentation on market analysis, strategic thinking and entrepreneurial resilience that went into the set-up, development and overseas expansion of her company in the caregiving industry, which is poised to grow by leaps and bounds in the coming decades. Her story impressed many to seek her advice on their business start-up plans.
Mr Phay shared his secret recipe for a Singaporean entrepreneur to be successful in international trade. He stressed on the sustainability in entrepreneurship: ability to secure continuous financing, availability of foreign markets for business expansion, and clarity in the value proposition to clients. His talk triggered interests for collaborations from organisations such as the Singapore International Foundation. He also expressed interest to sponsor our students in their overseas work attachments.
