Logistics Industry Talk And Project Presentation

On 30 November 2013, the School of Business (SBIZ) collaborated with International Enterprise (IE) Singapore to organise an industry talk at SIM University in conjunction with the logistics project presentation by students of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management (BLSCM) programme. 

The talk, which focussed on the commodities trading and logistics industries, saw guest speakers from four multinational corporations share about interesting developments and career opportunities in their respective fields. The speakers were Mr Peter Lye, Global Head of Shipping at Anglo American; Mr David Cartwright, Managing Director at Kolmar Singapore Pte Ltd; Ms Olga Pukhova, Finance Manager at Mechel Carbon (Singapore); Mr Alex Leshchev, Head of Logistics at Mechel Carbon (Singapore); and Ms Phyllis Liew, Senior Human Resource Manager at SDV Logistics (Singapore) Pte Ltd. Associate Professor Lee Pui Mun, Dean of SBIZ, gave the welcome address, while Ms Gina Lim, Group Director of Trade Services & Policy Group at IE Singapore, delivered the opening remarks.

Following the talks, the audience adjourned to seminar rooms where 49 projects were presented by BLSCM programme students who were in their final semester. Through their interaction at the exhibition area, the students exchanged ideas with and learnt more from the guest speakers.
