A showcase of 76 projects – in the form of poster presentations – by final-semester students from the Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme was held at SIM University on 31 May 2014. This bi-annual Logistics Project Presentation deals with real issues and challenges encountered at the students' work environment. These issues involve supply chain, inventory, warehousing, procurement, distribution and transport, and Information Technology applications across various industry sectors.
The presentation was followed by an industry talk segment, conducted by Dr Holly Ott, Senior Lecturer, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Technische Universität München. Dr Ott spoke about resilience in high-tech supply chains and drew examples from her former workplace at Infineon Technologies. Mr Chan Hsien Hung, General Manager (Management) at Yang Kee Logistics Pte Ltd, described careers in logistics and the need for more professionals to join the industry. Finally, Mr Wai Hao Ren, a consultant at Futurmaster Singapore and a graduate from the programme's pioneer Class of 2012, shared the programme's 200-strong Logistics interest group on Facebook as the platform for graduates to stay in touch with one another and to keep updated on job openings, events and seminars.
