..........................................................................................................................................................China's rise has sent tremors to the rest of the world. Together with India's rise, in 20 to 30 yearsthe centre of gravity of the world will shift from the Atlantic to the Pacific and Indian Oceans…Inevitably, China will move up the economic and political pecking order.Lee Kuan Yew, Speech at the Bo'ao forum for Asian, 23 April 2005..........................................................................................................................................................
The rapid ascendance of China is increasingly transforming societies and economies all over the world. As a testament to our robust relations with China, Singapore has joined the China-initiated Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank as a founding member; the third bilateral state project in Chongqing was also launched during President Xi Jinping's November 2015 visit to Singapore. The next decades shall see further opportunities created by China's growth. To help our nation and our people tap these opportunities, SIM University has introduced a new Minor in Contemporary China Studies (CCS). The objectives of this Minor are to equip students with multi-disciplinary knowledge to understand the history, culture, society, politics and economy of contemporary China, so that they can effectively engage this global economic power and harness its growth potential in their future careers.
