North West District Mayor Teo Ho Pin Meets UniSIM Service-Learning Student Leaders

On 24 March 2016, SIM University (UniSIM) hosted a dialogue session with Dr Teo Ho Pin, Mayor of North West District and Member of Parliament for Bukit Panjang Constituency. This get-together was part of the Mayor's Network @ North West – Youth Leaders networking session for tertiary youth leaders to encourage volunteering in the community and promote ground-up initiatives.

Themed Contributing To A Caring Community, the event provided a platform for UniSIM full-time undergraduate programme service-learning student leaders to share their service-learning initiatives and their experience-based perspectives on community issues, and to dialogue with Dr Teo and North West Community Development Council (CDC) staff and grassroots leaders on UniSIM students' vision of a caring community, the role of individuals and the need for collaboration to achieve their shared vision.

Heartened to hear from UniSIM students on their commitment to their projects and passion to learn from and serve the community, Dr Teo proposed to strengthen community projects collaboration opportunities between UniSIM and North West CDC. Details of the partnership will be shared in the coming months.
