Partnering To Succeed: MOU Signing Between SIM University And Thatz International

SIM University (UniSIM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Thatz International on 18 June 2013, in conjunction with CommunicAsia 2013 - Asia's largest integrated Information and Communications Technology (ICT) event. This MOU, signed by Associate Professor Philip Cheang; Dean of School of Science and Technology; and Mr Simon Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Thatz International, is a strategic collaboration to develop job-ready Information Technology (IT) graduates to address emerging needs in Singapore's IT Service Management (ITSM) sector.

Mr Lee recounted that he responded immediately to the call for closer ties with industries by Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President of UniSIM, as he realised that there will be a labour crunch in the ITSM sector. Indeed, the need to "partner to succeed" was the key message presented by Associate Professor Cheang at the ceremony. According to Associate Professor Cheang, this initiative adds value to Thatz International’s business, UniSIM’s profession-centric education and the community by "creating a lifelong learning integrated platform to nurture ICT talents in the ITSM sector, and to build and mentor real-world practitioners for real-world challenges that confront industries".
