SUSS's inaugural student orientation was held on 8 Jul 2017. About 800 freshmen came on a Saturday morning eager to start on their learning journey. The Jul 2017 orientation theme is jigsaw puzzle which centered around SUSS's education philosophy, "Head", "Heart" and "Habit". The loose pieces of the puzzle put together to form a big picture which signifies the student's future.
The group of new students started the day early with a breakfast pack and redemption of the exclusive SUSS t-shirt for those who had pre-registered online. They were later led on a campus tour where they were introduced to some facilities available. They then proceeded to the welcome addresses and programme briefings by their respective School Deans and Heads of Programme, followed by a delicious buffet lunch. Students were encouraged to download the Orientation mobile application where they could view the day's schedule, receive live updates throughout the day, redeem free gifts and provide feedback conveniently through their smartphones.
Exciting booths were set up at the Atrium where students were able to familiarise themselves with the various useful tools for their studies in SUSS such as the Student portal booth and learning services booth. They were also treated to a delightful cup of gourmet coffee or tea and swiss rolls as they mingled with SUSS academic and administrative staff, student ambassadors and their fellow course-mates.
The day ended with an important E-learning briefing for students to learn how to navigate the various e-platforms such as Library, Canvas, Student Portal and Teaching and Learning Centre to assist them as they begin their learning journey at SUSS.
