Did you know that cargo can be put away or retrieved at over 15,000 dedicated pallet positions without manual labour in a distribution facility fitted with the technologically-advanced Automated Storage and Retrieval System? When integrated with a web-based Warehouse Management System, it is also possible for warehouse customers to track and monitor their inventory online. On 19 April 2013, a group of 30 students and staff from SIM University (UniSIM), led by Associate Professor Tan Yan Weng, Head of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme offered by the School of Business, learnt about this and more when they visited Freight Links Logistics - the distribution facility of mainboard-listed Freight Links Group. The participants first toured the facility to view the logistics operations first-hand. The boardroom presentation that followed provided insight into the Group's comprehensive range of logistics services such as international freight forwarding, chemical storage and logistics, and warehousing and distribution. The participants also interacted with Freight Links Logistics' senior staff members, including Mr Philip Lim, Executive Vice President; and Mr Vincent See, Vice President, and learnt more about industry trends and career development in logistics from them.
Mr Sim Ee Huey, Assistant Vice President of Freight Links Logistics, explaining the logistics operations to the participants.
