The classroom came alive for a group of some 40 SIM University (UniSIM) students from the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Appreciation course when they attended an on-site workshop at Wu Xueli Art Studio on 8 March 2014. The gallery owner, Ms Wu Xueli, is well-known for her oil paintings that embody poetic expressions and musical movements through her traditional and modern interpretations. Recognised both locally and internationally, her fine art pieces are featured in major museums including the Singapore Art Museum and the China National Museum of Fine Arts.
At the workshop, Ms Wu discussed in great detail the process of creating an artwork, covering areas such as personal artistic creativity, ideas generation, creation process, style, final product and collection. Enjoying the intimate session with the renowned artist, the students gained a deeper appreciation of paintings and the work that accompanies each art piece.
