UniSIM's Accounting Degree Obtains ACRA Recognition

The Bachelor of Accountancy (BACC) programme offered by the School of Business at SIM University (UniSIM) is accredited by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) - the national regulator of business entities and public accountants in Singapore - with effect from 22 May 2012.

This means that UniSIM's accountancy graduates will have satisfied the qualification requirement which is the first step towards registration as a public accountant under the Accountants Act (Cap. 2). The other Singapore university accountancy degrees similarly recognised are National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University.

Graduates of the BACC programme are already exempted from some professional examinations by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Recognition of the programme by ACRA and these professional bodies could potentially help boost the supply of public accountants by offering aspiring working adults an avenue to join the ranks of the public accountancy profession.
