On 4 December 2014, SIM University (UniSIM) formed a strategic partnership with Republic Polytechnic (RP) to jointly build the capacity of professionals in the education and sports sector. Professor Tan Ngoh Tiong, Dean of UniSIM's School of Human Development and Social Services (HDSS); and Ms Goy Soon Lan, Director of RP's School of Sports, Health and Leisure (SHL), signed a Memorandum of Understanding, witnessed by UniSIM Provost Professor Tsui Kai Chong and RP's Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Yeo Li Pheow.With this agreement, UniSIM and RP commit to explore mutually beneficial activities that will strengthen the learning and training of students from both institutions. These include the sponsoring of SHL graduates to pursue the Bachelor of Sports and Physical Education programme under HDSS and providing for the continuing education needs of SHL graduates through courses and opportunities available at UniSIM. The parties will also look into co-organising guest lectures and conferences, and exploring the attachment of SHL staff to teach at UniSIM.
