This year, Convo 2012 saw 1,838 graduates which was held over 3 days from 2 October to 4 October 2012 (over 5 sessions). Among these are also the pioneer batches of graduates from the Master of Counselling, Master of Science in Urban Transport Management, Bachelor of Arts in Malay Language and Literature, Bachelor of Science in Business with Military Studies, Bachelor of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Systems.
The theme for this year's convocation "Success in motion" aptly captured the learning journey of UniSIM graduates. The images of solid flying butterflies welcomed our graduates at the entrance, atrium and grand hall. Similar to the metamorphosis of a butterfly, education is a transformational journey. In the process of transformation, students are taken on a journey of boundless learning and discovery. They make sacrifices, overcome challenges, sharpen their time management and multi-tasking skills and through the process build up their resilience and determination to "push" through the "cocoon" to complete your degree programme and "emerge" to realise their dreams.
At the grand hall, it was a heartwarming atmosphere, as we watched video highlights on graduates. The video recording of UniSIM students’ lives were shown, reflecting the juggle between having a full time job and part time studies.
They persevered, focused and made sacrifices, in order to manage their time between family, work and studies.
In session 1, the ceremony began with President's Address (please view video below), followed by the Guest Of Honour, - Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who noted with pride and commended the graduates for having "real commitment to have pursued and completed a part-time degree programme whilst having to balance work and family commitments".
At the end of the ceremony, the graduates proceeded to the atrium for a tea reception and brought home a graduation bear as momento. They took many snapshots of memorable moments in their graduation gown with family members and friends. Many signed up for UniSIM Alumni Card.
Congratulations once again to the Class of 2012!
