UniSIM and ST Aerospace signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 21 September 2011 to cooperate in educating and developing talent for Singapore’s aerospace industry. This MOU is a renewal of a previous collaboration signed in 2008 – a clear sign of the strengthening relationship between the two parties. The duration of the MOU was for 10 years, as proposed by ST Aerospace. Both organisations will collaborate in the areas of research and training in which both parties will undertake associate training activities at each other’s facilities. In addition, ST Aerospace will also provide support in the form of scholarships and training facilities, as well as play a prominent advisory role in strategising the long term plan of UniSIM’s aerospace programmes.
On the partnership, Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President of UniSIM, said: "We will continue to work closely with ST Aerospace to ensure that our programmes are directly relevant to the aviation industry. UniSIM looks forward to playing a part in helping to nurture a core pool of leadership talent and increasing the competencies of Singapore’s aviation workforce."
