UniSIM Wins The Best Facilities Management Training Institution 2016 Award

SIM University (UniSIM) has been presented with the "Best Facilities Management (FM) Training Institution of the Year 2016" award at the inaugural Singapore FM Awards ceremony, held on 30 September 2016 at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore.

Co-organised by the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Singapore Chapter and Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS), the Singapore FM Awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the International FM Expo 2016 and International FM Conference 2016. It recognises those at the forefront and which have made significant contribution to the knowledge, practical application and sustainable performance of the local FM industry. As the leading industry awards in Singapore, it seeks to identify the industry leaders, promote excellence, encourage innovations and raise professional recognition in the FM industry, as well as across the building and real estate sectors. The independent panel of judges included esteemed practitioners and industry representatives from organisations such as City Developments Limited and EM Services.

Being named "Best FM Training Institution" meant that UniSIM had shown that it is the best among the other institutions of higher learning, private institutions and academies, through the demonstration of its long-term commitment to the training and development of its Facilities and Events Management (FEM) programme students that go well beyond the basics and contribute to their career development, as well as to raising the standard of FM practices. Judging criteria included the industry relevance of the FEM programme, and the identification of at least three students or graduates who are making significant contributions to their organisations.

Dr Luke Peh, Vice Dean of the School of Science and Technology at UniSIM, and Head of its FEM programme, received the award on behalf of the University. He said: "This award is a feather in the cap for the FEM programme, and a strong testament to the good work and efforts that the School, our partners and associates have put into the programme. More importantly, this endorsement by industry players will benefit our students and alumni, and enhance the reputation of our FEM programme."
