The primary focus of the School of Law (SLAW) is to train and produce lawyers for the practice of law in Singapore, particularly in the areas of Criminal Law and Family Law. This is part of the national effort to meet the need for lawyers in the areas of Criminal Law and Family Law. In view of the School of Law’s emphasis on the practice of law, the two programmes offered, Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Laws, which specialise in Criminal Law and Family Law, will aim at providing a comprehensive education that is practice-oriented and multidisciplinary. Students will have ample opportunities to interact with practising lawyers, and work on real cases throughout their studies. Both degrees will qualify the graduates for entry into the Legal Profession in Singapore.
A Message from the Dean
"Join us at the SUSS School of Law! Why join us? Well, if you want to practise law as a lawyer in Singapore, we aim to train you and make you ready for practice in Singapore. We will teach you and train you ‘in context’ – to be an important part of your community. At the SUSS School of Law, you will not only learn the law but also gain practical skills relevant to the practice of law. When you graduate, you will be a law graduate who can immediately apply what you have learnt and who is ready to be a productive member of a law practice. In time, you will grow into and become an integral part of the social fabric of our community. So don’t wait, be a pioneer in this refreshing approach to the study and practice of law!"
