The Re:Define Success Conference is a flagship event organised by the Student Success Centre at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). It aims to broaden the definition of success through
- celebrating diverse aspirations and pathways
- promoting lifelong learning for continuous growth
- emphasizing holistic development of personal and
- professional success and fostering inclusivity to harness diverse talents.
The conference aims to strengthen Singapore’s social compact and maintain a strong, vibrant economy to stay globally relevant and successful. This aligns with the university’s mission of championing lifelong learning and impacting lives for social good.
Conference Objectives
The conference serves as a platform to:
- Recognize best practices, research, and advocacy efforts by academics, educators, industry practitioners, and organizations;
- Share and celebrate new narratives that redefine success for individuals and society;
- Foster partnerships and expand reach through networking and collaboration.
The conference is designed to offer an engaging and interactive experience through three key elements:
- Express – A platform for thought leadership, critical discourse, and dialogue on redefining success.
- Experience – Opportunities to engage with diverse stakeholders and witness success being redefined in action.
- Ecosystem – Interactive sessions that facilitate new partnerships and collaborations.
Theme of Conference
The ‘Empowering Change, Shaping Inclusive Futures’ theme of the Re:Define Success conference 2025 focuses on fostering inclusivity in education, workplaces, and communities. The conference features three strands discussing how inclusive practices can empower diverse individuals and communities, enhance lives, and foster equity and belonging for personal and professional success and a stronger community.
Key topics within each strand include, but are not limited to, inclusion policy, research and practice in supporting and empowering individuals with special educational needs and disabilities in employment and community engagement.
The conference aims to connect academia, educators, employers, and community organizations, fostering collaboration to inspire action, share insights, and drive meaningful change towards a more inclusive future.
This year’s conference is jointly organised with University of Leeds and Node for Inclusive Lifelong Education (NILE), SUSS.

Node for Inclusive Lifelong Education (NILE), SUSS |

The Node for Inclusive Lifelong Education (NILE) is a multi-disciplinary research initiative by SUSS. It aims to serve as an inclusive lifelong learning hub in Singapore. NILE will conduct research, offer training programmes, and provide consultancy, focusing on diverse learning needs across all life stages. NILE aspires to empower educators, fostering a society where every individual can thrive through continuous, meaningful learning. It hopes to be a conduit for accessible learning, driving positive change through evidence-based strategies and collaborative partnerships. |

Paper Presentations | 20 mins + 10 mins (Q&A) | Presenters will have the opportunity to showcase research findings, or ideas, providing insights into their research methodologies, key findings, and contributions to their respective fields. This mode of presentation encourages in-depth discussions and feedback, fostering a collaborative learning environment. | To be considered for a paper presentation, presenters must submit an abstract of no more than 300 words that summarises the key elements of their papers. The abstract should clearly outline the topic, research objectives, methodology, and expected outcomes. Submissions must align with at least one of the three conference strands to ensure relevance to the theme. |
Workshop | 60 mins with Q&A | The workshop presentation provides an interactive and dynamic platform for participants to engage in hands-on activities related to the themes of the conference. It is designed to foster practical learning and skill development. Presenters act as facilitators to guide participants through collaborative tasks. | To be considered for the workshop presentation, presenters must submit a detailed proposal outlining the goals, objectives, and planned activities. The proposal should include a clear description of the hands-on activities and how they relate to the conference’s theme and strands. The duration of activities, required materials, and prerequisites for participants should also be specified. |
Mini Presentations (3 presentations in 1 session) | 15 mins each + 5 mins (Q&A) | The mini presentations offer a compact yet impactful sharing. Each session consists of three presentations, providing speakers with the opportunity to share best practices, institutional frameworks, or insights related to the three strands. These sessions are ideal for those who wish to pitch practical solutions or innovative approaches concisely. | To be considered for the mini presentations, presenters are required to submit a summary of no more than 200 words. The abstract must clearly outline the best practices, frameworks, or insights that they plan to share. The content should be concise, with a focus on practical takeaways or applicable strategies that participants can implement. Presentations should be structured to fit within the 15-minute time frame. An additional 5-minute Q&A session facilitated by a moderator will follow. |
