The programme is principally aimed at producing competent graduates in the field of Malay language and literature studies with a strong capacity to apply their knowledge in the work place.
All graduates in the BA Malay Language programme (BAML) will have to undergo training in all three core areas of Language studies : Linguistics, Literature or Sociology. The graduates will be competent and confident in linking linguistic knowledge and linguistic analysis, and applying this knowledge at all levels of appointments in the field of Education or related industries.

BA Malay Language and LiteratureStudents are required to complete a total of 130 credit units (cu) to graduate with a basic degree, inclusive of 10 cu of university core courses.

Students pursuing the basic Major-Minor programmes are required to complete 130 credit units (cu), which include:
(Students must complete at least 10 cu of level 3 electives)
The BAML programme is open to all Singapore citizens, permanent residents or residents in Singapore who have the interest in and commitment to pursuing a degree in Malay Language and Literature.
Successful graduates of the BAML programme will be find themselves suitable for a career in teaching and the print and audio Media, including translating and interpreting.
