BSc Business

Overview

This programme provides students with the knowledge and managerial skills that they need to understand today’s business world, to better perform in their current employment and to become successful managers who are equally competent to lead businesses as well as not-for-profit organisations.

Articulated around the key business areas (e.g., Leadership, Planning, Information, People, Processes, Customers and Results) and the functional areas of business (e.g., accounting, finance, operations, marketing, logistics and strategy), the programme focuses on providing students with a strong academic and up-to-date knowledge of economics, law, marketing, finance, accounting, operations, quality management, decision science, IT management and strategy.

Following a flexible as well as a practice-focused teaching and learning approach, students learn to analyse the individual and collective contributions that business functions make to a firm's competitive advantage and ultimately, to its overall profitability and long-term sustainability. That same flexibility enables our students to progress at their own pace and pursue their lifelong learning and higher education objectives while meeting the demands of their social, career and family responsibilities.

The courses are developed and taught by faculty with globally-recognised qualifications, strong academic credibility and relevant industry experience.

Thanks to their small-size, the seminar-style classes use case studies to promote critical thinking and provide many opportunities for students to brainstorm and exchange ideas among themselves and with their seminar instructors, a dynamic process that helps them develop the level of confidence that they need to put their point across during small and larger group discussions.

As all of our students are current or future working professionals, the course delivery places a strong emphasis on industry-specific and work-related examples, a focus allowing students to apply at work what they have learnt in the classroom or online.

Students may pursue Business as a single major or in combination with a minor.
