Overview

The BSc Facilities and Events Management (BFEM) programme is a partnership programme between the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), Singapore Polytechnic and the BCA Academy (BCAA). This innovative programme integrates the fi¬elds of facilities management with events management, and seeks to capitalise on the overlapped areas to groom professionals who will perform well in either industry which are very often critically affected by each other, and to ensure flexible career options.

Programme Structure

BSc Facilities and Events Management
Students are required to complete a total of 130 credit units (cu) to graduate with a basic degree, inclusive of 10 cu of SUSS Core courses and 10 cu of General Electives, which are courses offered under the General Studies Programme (course pre-requisites apply). All courses are 5 cu unless stated otherwise. The breakdown of the cu to be completed is:

  • 110 cu of Compulsory courses;
  • 10 cu of General Electives; and
  • 10 cu of SUSS Core courses.

BSc (Hons) Facilities and Events Management
This programme has an honours option. Students who achieve a CGPA of 3.5 and above upon completion of their basic degree may be invited to enrol in the honours programme, which will be offered if the requisite number of students is met. Students who accept the invitation will need to complete another 40 cu of courses to achieve 170 cu in total and have to satisfy all university requirements in order to graduate with an honours degree. The breakdown of the cu to be completed is:

  • 110 cu of Compulsory courses;
  • 30 cu of Elective courses;
  • 10 cu of General Electives
  • 10 cu Compulsory Capstone Project; and
  • 10 cu of SUSS Core courses.

The curriculum is structured such that:

  • Level 1 consists of foundational facilities and events management courses such as materials technology, building services and contract administration.
  • Level 2 consists of core facilities and events management courses such as procurement management, project and operations management and venue and space management.
  • Level 3 consists of advanced facilities management courses such as maintenance of building services and advanced events management courses such as logistics and site management.
  • Level 4 consists of specialisation-track honours courses such as energy efficiency in building for facilities management and special and leisure and attractions management for events management.

This programme is recommended for aspiring facilities or events managers, or those who are keen to pursue a career in the facilities and events industries.
