BSc Workplace Safety and Health with Minor

The programme aims to provide a more focused training in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) for those aspiring to seek a career in safety. This WSH programme is unique in that students are grounded in human factors fundamentals and principles in the lower-level courses and then focus on the workplace safety, health and environmental issues in the higher-level courses. The programme equips students with the skills and knowledge of evaluating and controlling hazards, and developing strategic initiatives to create a safer and healthier workplace, through a better appreciation of human physical, biological and cognitive strengths and limitations.

Students can pair this WSH major with a selection of Minor programmes offered in SUSS, making it flexible for students to craft out a degree programme that best suits their needs according to the role they desire to take on as WSH professionals.

The programme is recognised by Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for WSH Officer registration.

Singapore aims to reduce workplace fatality rate to less than 1.0 per 100,000 workers by 2028. In order to achieve this target, it is important that all stakeholders in the workplace play a role in keeping the workplace safe and healthy for all workers and build a strong safety culture. It is important that companies adopt a strong professional stance in the management of the health and safety of their workers through knowledge development, upgrading and training of their safety professionals. Graduates may look forward a fulfilling career as a safety professional in many sectors including manufacturing, construction, healthcare, built environment, logistics and so on.
